Jack Tretton, Sony Computer Entertainment of America President/CEO, was recently interviewed in "Electronic Gaming Monthly." When asked about Microsoft and the Xbox 360, it seems Tretton and Sony aren't too concerned about the competition and anticipate to be the overall leader.
"I think we've got a better machine, I think we've got a better business model, and I think we're going to win in the long term," he said. Tretton then continued:
I'm extremely pleased that we're selling more PS2 units than they are [360 units]. That's something that quite frankly surprised me. But while early indicators are not completely irrelevant, you can't completely ignore them, and I''d be a little concerned if I were them. On the other hand, what concerns me is if the Xbox 360 is being rejected, are the consumers on board with [next-generation] technology and is there enough [demand] there.
Certainly among cost conscious gamers, the US$600 price tag for a PlayStation 3 may still seem hard to swallow. Tretton, however, addressed these concerns by saying the PS3 is the "best gaming experience of any platform that's ever shipped day one." Pointing at what the PS3 delivers on gaming and multimedia, Trentons adds, "All of a sudden 599 bucks doesn't sound like a whole lot of money."
Je trouve ca completement ridicule de la part de Sony de faire de tel commentaires.... Oui la X360 est moin vendu que la PlayStation 2....mais la Play3 aussi se fait battre a pleine couture par la Play 2. Ca aucun sens comme argument pour rabaisser la Xbox! C'est comme si tu disait a quelqun: tu est laid car tu a des boutons dans la figures, mais que tu est toi même en pleine crise d'acnée.
La seul console qui se vent plus que la Play 2 cest la Wii. et a mon avis cest le deux meillieur console pour l'instant, donc en soi c'est normale.
C'est sur que eventuelement la Play 2 va laisse ca place au Play 3 ou au x360, mais pour l'instant, PS2/Wii rulez.
dans un futur a moyen terme ca serra Wii/Ps3 ou Wii/X360 d'apres moi. C'est tres dur de savoir pour l'instant. Sony n'ont pas encore sortie leur grosse cartes.
