Nintendo has ripped up the record books, with its DS handheld last week selling over 191,000 units, according to official ChartTrack data – more than any other hardware format has ever achieved in a seven-day period.
Nintendo revealed the news to MCV this morning, with a spokesperson offering: “We’re obviously delighted to be able to announce this.
"Momentum has been increasing on DS sales and to achieve the highest weekly sales figure ever in the history of the games market is fantastic.”
The previous record for weekly hardware sales was set by PSP when it launched on September 1st 2005 and shifted around 185,000 units in its first week.

Two weeks ago, the company had its biggest sales week ever. Last week, it surpassed that record, he noted. As a result, the console is tough to find for a second holiday season in a row.

Nintendo Australia has just announced that the Wii is now officially the fastest selling console in Australia, reaching 200,000 units sold. The Wii has done this just two weeks shy of its Australian one year launch anniversary. The figure includes all consoles and handhelds. To put this into some context the last reported Wii figures were at the end of Q3 with 167,899 units sold. This means that from the start of October to now the Wii has sold 32101 units in a month and a half. The Wii continues to be a success down under with the system having surpassed the GameCube by a massive margin in less than a year on the market.

Ouais, enfin c'est pas catastrophique non plus.
C'est sur que pour un Mario, on attendait beaucoup plus.
Mais, faire 250 000 en première semaine, c'est pas tout le monde qui fait ça.
Je veux pas faire de damage control, mais peut être juste que je suis super déçu (c'est le cas en fait ), ça reste moyen (usa mis à part) "pour un mario non spin-off".
C'est pas tout le monde qui fait ça, mais là on ne parle pas du jeu de mrtoutlemonde mais du "mario de salon" next gen de la wii.

tain mais les Brain Training c'est vraiment un truc de fou. Dans les top 10 bien souvent depuis leurs sorties et Brain Training 1 est Numéro 1 aux RU , c'est incroyable.

Sells over 200,000 last week, whilst Wii passes Xbox 360’s UK installed base
It seems that the only thing pegging back Nintendo’s remarkable sales achievements at the moment is its ability to get hardware on the High Street – but that hasn’t stopped the DS Lite smashing the UK weekly hardware sales record that it had set only the week before.
Last week Nintendo’s handheld sold 212,584 units – a fair chunk more than the previous weeks sales record of 191,104, according to sales data from UK stats body ChartTrack.
Until now the PS2 had been the long-standing record holder, following the 184,360 units it sold in Christmas week in 2001.
Nintendo UK's general manager David Yarnton stated: “With its wide appeal and unique software, Nintendo DS continues to expand the gaming audience and continues to appeal to everyone.
"The vast range of software being created for both avid gamers and new gamers of all ages has ensured a wide variety of unique titles are available. With New Touch! Generation title, Sight Training, and more traditional games like The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass, we are looking forward to an exciting Christmas season.”
In addition to all of this, Nintendo’s other big success story, the Wii, sold over 100,000 units last week – and its total sales have now surpassed those of Microsoft’s Xbox 360, despite arriving on the market almost a year after Microsoft’s machine.

Demand reaches highest ever levels for Nintendo hardware; eBay traders making a mint
Another week, another Nintendo hardware drought – but retailers aren’t complaining, describing current demand for Wii and DS as ‘like nothing we’ve ever seen before.’
As parents continue to buy up any hardware possible ahead of Christmas, retail has seen both Wii and DS consoles sell out almost as quickly as they’ve been made available.
“If anything demand has accelerated over the last few weeks on both formats,” said HMV’s head of games Tim Ellis. “We’d have loved more stock but we knew that we’d be in this position so it’s hardly a surprise.”
Leading e-tailer Amazon has also seen unprecedented clamour for the consoles: “The demand for DS and Wii is like nothing I’ve ever seen in my time in the industry,” said video games manager Nick Arran.
“Every customer seems to want them. Stock has been a constant struggle throughout peak. A big thank you to Nintendo who have pulled out all the stops and are delivering weekly allocations. These are selling out within a few hours.”
And Comet’s assistant category buyer Jim Leighton added: “We are selling through all the stock we get almost immediately. The interest is overwhelming – 15 per cent of the searches on the Comet.co.uk website are for the Nintendo Wii.”

Publisher says upcoming Mario & Sonic title could become Christmas number one
Sega believes that its marketing campaign for Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games could help it scoop the Christmas number one.
Speaking to MCV, Sega product manager Phil Lamb said: “This will be a leading title at Christmas. We have fully set our sights on it being the number one Wii title but are confident that this title has the potential to also achieve the top slot in the All Formats chart too.”
Sega claims the title represents the next step on from the massively successful Wii Sports, and has put in place what it describes at its “biggest ever and widest reaching media campaigns,” – which it hopes will ensure it achieves its goals.
“As sports titles go, Wii Sports was really just the tip of the iceberg,” continued Lamb. “Mario and Sonic goes way below the surface. We’ll be following Nintendo’s lead and ensuring that we are effectively hitting that universal audience of five to 95 year-olds from as many angles as possible. TV will take the lead with a massive campaign running from launch through to the new year.”

Et de toute manière malgré toutes les critiques, pour des casuals comme ma famille, ça plait et c'est vu comme un bon jeu car amusant, donc je comprend que ça se vende .
Les casual et même une partie de sjoueurs en ont rien à battre de la bataille des reviews des sites ou mags.
C'est ce que commentait un gars de chez EA, car vu que les casuals ne s'intéressent pas aux Tests de Jeux, des jeux comme Carnival Games se vendent bien aux USA alors que c'est de la merde. Pourtant, tout le monde est pas fans de Zelda, Bioshock, GoW, Halo et autre MGS, mais va leur expliquer. Et donc pour certains, les jeux précités c'est de la merde, "de leur point de vue". Chacun ses goûts.

Les casual et même une partie de sjoueurs en ont rien à battre de la bataille des reviews des sites ou mags.
C'est ce que commentait un gars de chez EA, car vu que les casuals ne s'intéressent pas aux Tests de Jeux, des jeux comme Carnival Games se vendent bien aux USA alors que c'est de la merde. Pourtant, tout le monde est pas fans de Zelda, Bioshock, GoW, Halo et autre MGS, mais va leur expliquer. Et donc pour certains, les jeux précités c'est de la merde, "de leur point de vue". Chacun ses goûts.
Au-delà de ca, ce qui me fais marrer c'est les sony-casuals qui pensent être des purs gamers... ca bavent sur tout ce qui n'est pas sony et aprés ca va jouer à l'eye toy ou a singstar

Bookies favourite Need for Speed: Pro Street is at number four this week, with The Simpsons Game at five.
Dr Kawashima's Brain Training is at six, with THQ's WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 at number seven.
Ubisoft's new IP Assassin's Creed is at eight this week, More Brain Training is at nine and Konami's Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 is at ten.

Activision claim their first UK Christmas All Formats No1 with ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’, ending what had been a close and hard fought battle with a convincing victory.
An impressive 53% rise in sales moves it up one place to No1, pushing it almost 35,000 units ahead of Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’ at No2. Successful retailer promotions on the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of ‘CoD 4’ and ‘Assassin’s Creed’ ensured that no other titles could come close as Ubisoft’s visually stunning game stole 6 places, up from No8 to No2 (+92%). EA miss out on the All Formats Christmas No1 for the first time since 2002, when Rockstar’s ‘GTA Vice City’ took the crown. EA has to settle for the next 3 places in the All Formats Chart with ‘The Simpsons Game’ (+31%) up 2 places to No3 and ‘FIFA 08’ (+8%) and ‘Need for Speed: ProStreet’ (+12%) both down one place to No’s 4 and 5 respectively. Both ‘Brain Training’ titles remain in the All Formats Top 10 with the original (+23%) down 2 places to No8 and the sequel (+67%) up 3 places to No6. Outside the All Formats Top 5, sales are very tight with only 2,000 units separating No5 from No8.
Nintendo equal EA with 3 All Formats Top 10 games thanks to a huge surge in sales of ‘Wii Play’ (+148% – coinciding with the best week ever for Wii hardware), up from No17 to No10, while THQ are pinned down at No7 with ‘WWE Smackdown vs Raw 2008’ (+36%). Last week’s reigning champion Sega’s Wii ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ pulls up, slipping 8 places to No9 (-9%) – the only Top 10 title to see a week-on-week sales dip.
Ubisoft end 2007 on a high with ‘Assassin’s Creed’ sneaking to the top of the All Formats Chart, reaching No1 on its respective formats (PS3 and Xbox 360) and dropping only 7% in sales, while Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ slips from No1 to No3 with a 37% decline.
‘FIFA 08’ misses out on No1 by around 1,000 sales, as EA have to make do with only 1 week at the top of the All Formats Chart in the last 11 weeks of the year. ‘The Simpsons Game’ falls one place to No4, while ‘Need for Speed: ProStreet’ holds on to No5 with both EA games falling by similar margins (24% and 23% respectively). The football games ‘FIFA 08’ and ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’ are the only All Formats Top 10 games to increase in sales with the retailer-promoted Xbox 360 version of PES helping Konami’s title back into the Top 10, up from No13 to No6. THQ’s ‘WWE Smackdown Vs Raw 2008’ drops 43% in sales but remains at No7 for a third consecutive week, while Nintendo’s Brain Training sequel falls 2 places to No8 (and the original drops out of the Top 10 to No11, for the first in the past 9 weeks). The original Dr Kawashima has been in the All Formats Top 10 for 34 weeks in 2007 (and an impressive 50 weeks in the All Formats Top 20).
‘Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’ gives Activision 2 Top 10 All Formats games this week, up from No12 to No9. Sega’s All Formats Top 10 representative is no longer ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ which due to lack of stock falls out of the All Formats Top 40 after last week’s No9 placing, and is replaced with ‘The Golden Compass’, up one place to No10.
