Nintendo has announced a worldwide retail package for the GameCube system. The company will include a free Game Boy Player with the purchase of a GameCube system, at the standard $149.99 price. This deal will go into effect when the Game Boy Player hits shelves on June 23.
The Game Boy Player enables GameCube owners to play Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance titles through their GameCube system on a television, using either a GameCube controller or a Game Boy Advance system through the use of a GameCube Game Boy Advance link cable.
"This offer builds on the incredible momentum generated by our Game Boy Advance line, which has already sold 35 million systems worldwide," says Peter MacDougall, executive vice president, sales and marketing at Nintendo of America. "Once we saw the enthusiastic reception given to the debut of Game Boy Player here on the show floor at the E3 tradeshow, it was an easy decision to move ahead with our plans to combine these two products."
