This week sees Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ return to the top spot for the fourth time thanks to the DS version which accounts for a massive 93% of the title’s sales.

Capcom’s ‘Devil May Cry 4’ drops down to No2 after one week on top and Disney’s ‘Turok’ holds on to No3 for a second week. Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ springs back up to No4 and Nintendo’s ‘Wii Play’ again completes the top. After last week’s avalanche of new releases in the Top 40, there’s just two newcomers this week: Midway’s ‘Game Party’ (Wii) debuts at No15 and 505 Games’ ‘Cooking Mama 2’ (DS) comes in at No33.

Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ is the longest serving All Formats No1 so far this year, notching up a third week in total at the top of the chart.

It was boosted last week by a strong second week showing from the DS version, however this week it is renewed stock of the Wii version which helps it hold on to top spot. The Wii version this week accounts for 58% of sales compared to a feeble 7% last week. Sega’s title outsells Activision’s ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ at No2 by nearly 4 to 1, while ‘Dr Kawashima’s Brain Training’ moves to its highest All Format Chart position so far this year, up from No7 to No3. There are now 4 Nintendo ‘Training’ games in the All Formats Top 20 - the remaining ones being ‘More Brain Training’ at No15, ‘Sight Training’ at No17 and ‘Maths Training’ at No18. Capcom’s ‘Devil May Cry 4’ slips from No2 to No4 with sales down 54% on last week.

Midway breaks into the All Formats Top 10 with ‘Game Party’ for Wii up from No15 to No6 in its second week and ‘Unreal Tournament III’ is a re-entry at No9 - new on PS3 this week. Midway now has 2 All Formats Top 10 games this week, the same number as both Nintendo and EA. EA’s ‘FIFA Street 3’ debuts outside the Top 10 at No11 (the original debuted at No3, while FIFA Street 2 debuted at No1), while ‘Cooking Mama 2’ (+89%) is hotting up, rising from No33 to No12 in its second week of release. There is only one other Top 40 new entry this week – Sega’s ‘Sonic Riders: Zero Gravity’ at No37.

Mario & Sonic continue son carton.

Finalement Sega avait raison, ça se vend :oscar: .

UK :
Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ still hasn’t run out of puff at the top of the All Formats Chart, leading for a third consecutive week and notching up its 6th week in total at the top, despite competition from 4 All Formats Top 10 new entries.

Ubisoft find themselves at No3 with ‘Lost: The Video Game’ on 360/PS3/PC debuting ahead of THQ’s newcomer ‘Frontlines: Fuel of War’ on 360/PC at No4, but by only 153 sales. Microsoft’s Xbox 360 RPG ‘Lost Odyssey’ is the third highest new entry at No6 continuing a trend this week of new releases with the word ‘lost’ in the title (Capcom’s ‘Lost Planet: Extreme Condition’ is new on PS3 this week, but just misses out on a Top 40 placing). EA’s ‘The Sims 2: Freetime’ rounds off the new releases at No10. Strong sales of the white Nintendo DS Lite Brain Training bundle contribute to a boost of 24% in DS Lite hardware sales, helping the original Brain Training game reach No2 for only the second time in the All Formats Chart, up from No3, while the sequel jumps back into the Top 10, up from No15 to No7. The original Kawashima is now No1 in the DS Chart for the 41st time, taking back the top spot from ‘Mario & Sonic’. Konami’s ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’ re-enters the All Formats Top 10, up from No27 to No9 thanks to the release of the PSP version (No1 in the PSP chart). There are new No1s in every major individual format chart this week, including ‘Lost: The Video Game’ at No1 on PS3, ‘Frontlines: Fuel of War’ No1 on Xbox 360 and ‘The Sims 2: Freetime’ No1 on PC.

Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic At The Olympic Games’ shows that it hasn’t lost the will to win, having been knocked off the No1 spot in the All Formats chart three times - this week it battles its way back to the top for a seventh week, knocking EA’s ‘Army of Two’ down to No2.
Sales of ‘Army of Two’ fall 39% in its second week of release, while ‘Mario & Sonic’ sales only decline by 22%. Rockstar/Take 2’s ‘Bully: Scholarship Edition’ moves up from No4 to No3, swapping positions with Nintendo’s ‘Brain Training’, while Activision are camped at No5 for a third successive week with ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’. Take 2 have a second All Formats Top 10 title this week thanks to a retail-wide price promotion on ‘Carnival: Funfair Games’ pushing it to its highest ever chart position and sales total, up from No16 to No6. Activision’s ‘Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’ is granted an All Formats Top 10 encore thanks to strong retailer promotion (particularly on the PS2 version) which boosts it from No20 to No7 (its highest position since week 2 this year when it reached No5).
505 Games’ ‘Cooking Mama 2’ is hotting up with its first appearance ever in the All Formats Top 10 since it launched 5 weeks ago (up from No12 to No9). EA’s ‘FIFA 08’ rounds off the Top 10 with a climb of 4 places from No14 to No10. As a whole the All Formats Top 40 finds itself heavily represented by long-serving titles. On average, a title in this week’s Top 40 will have been there for 18 weeks - with DS titles ‘Brain Training’ and ‘New Super Mario Bros.’ the mainstays with 93 weeks and 90 weeks on chart respectively. There are 2 new entries in this week’s All Formats Top 40: Codemasters’ ‘Turning Point: Fall of Liberty’ (Xbox 360, PS3, PC) at No17, one place ahead of the stylish Wii game ‘No More Heroes’ from Rising Star Games and developer Grasshopper Manufacture at No18.

Sony’s first PS3 Gran Turismo title is a taster of things to come - ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’ debuts at No1 and is released as a budget title.

This happened before with the launch of ‘GT4: Prologue’ on PS2 in June 2004…10 months later the full product was launched (Gran Turismo 4, March 2005). ‘GT5: Prologue’ becomes the fastest-selling PS3 title within a week (19th overall), beating previous title-holder ‘Resistance: Fall of Man’ (back at the launch of PS3 in week 12, 2007). Ubisoft drop to No2 (-50%) after debuting at No1 last week with ‘Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ (360/PS3). Sega’s Wii/DS ‘Mario and Sonic’ (-19%) suffers a similar fate, dropping one place to No3. Konami climb 7 places to No4 (+109%) with ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’. The latest version to launch is Wii, claiming just over half of total sales, supplementing a DS version (Feb 08) and a PSP version (early Mar 08) and ‘PES08’ is now available on the same 7 formats as ‘FIFA 08’ which launched in late Sep 07. Activision drop one place to No5 with ‘Guitar Hero III’ (+8%) and Sega climb 4 places to No6 with last week’s other big new entry, ‘Sega Superstars Tennis’ on Wii/DS/360/PS3 (+25%). Also of note this week are new-entries ‘Viking: Battle for Asgard’ from Sega on 360/PS3 at No8 (67% on 360), EA’s ‘Command & Conquer 3: Kane’s Wrath’ (No16), Sega’s ‘House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return’ (No21) and Sony’s PSP ‘God of War: Chains of Olympus’ (No29).

Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’ races to a second week at No1 in the All Formats Chart despite a 40% drop in sales. This week Sony’s title accounts for 39% of all PS3 sales, but only 28% of all PS3 software revenue.

The Olympic flame is still burning strongly for Sega’s ‘Mario and Sonic’, up one place to No2, while Ubisoft’s ‘Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ is on a losing streak with sales falling for a second week, down 43%. The Wii version of ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’ scores a strong second week with sales of the first version of a PES game in the UK on a Nintendo home console up 34%, helping Konami hold on to No4 in the All Formats Top 40. Sega have the largest number of Top 10 All Formats titles this week with 3 - ‘Mario & Sonic’ joined by newcomer ‘Condemned 2’ on Xbox 360 (67%) and PS3 (33%) at No5 and ‘Viking: Battle for Asgard’, up from No9 to No7. Sega’s presence continues into the Top 20 with ‘Sega Superstars Tennis’ at No12 and ‘The House of the Dead 2 & 3 Return’ at No17 while there is no room for EA in the All Formats Top 10 with ‘FIFA 08’ now their top selling game at No14. Nintendo manage to gain a foothold in the All Formats Top 10 as both ‘Wii Play’ and ‘Brain Training’ bounce back into the Top 10 at No’s 8 and 9 respectively. The only other new entry this week is ‘Dark Sector’ from D3P, debuting at No11 (No6 in the PS3 Chart and No4 on Xbox 360).

Pour faire court et simple, MK Wii s'est plus en vendu en première semaine que toutes les premières semaines combinées de tous ces jeux là : Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8 et Super Paper Mario.

Succès massif, anthologique (y) .

UK :
Nintendo overtakes Sony’s ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue’ at the top of the All Formats Chart as ‘Mario Kart Wii’ records the 8th biggest launch week ever in the UK. ‘Mario Kart Wii’ is far and away the biggest launch of any Nintendo published title. It’s also bigger than the launch weeks of all 5 other Mario Wii games combined (Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games, Super Mario Galaxy, Mario Strikers, Mario Party 8 and Super Paper Mario).
Mario has performed heroically on Nintendo’s next-gen format with Wii games featuring Mario accounting for 21.2% of all Wii units since the launch of the console in December 2006. There are now 4 Mario games in the All Formats Top 40 with Sega’s ‘Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games’ down one place to No3 (behind ‘Gran Turismo 5: Prologue), ‘New Super Mario Bros’ at No23 and ‘Mario Kart DS’ an All Formats Top 40 re-entry at No30. ‘Pro Evolution Soccer 2008’, another strong performer on Nintendo Wii, is a non-mover at No4, while Ubisoft’s ‘Rainbow Six: Vegas 2’ continues to lose ground, down 2 places to No5.
Sales of ‘Condemned 2’ from Sega fall by 20% in its second week, down from No5 to No6, while Activision still have an All Formats Top 10 presence thanks to ‘Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock’ only falling 2 places to No8 and ‘Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare’ climbing one place to No9. The new DS and PC versions of Ubisoft’s ‘Assassin’s Creed’ help it sneak back up the chart, up from No27 to No15, but otherwise there are no All Format Top 40 new entries this week to compete with the blockbuster ‘Mario Kart Wii’.

UK console sales monitor Chart Track confirmed that for the past 15 weeks the PS3 has largely kept ahead of the Xbox 360. However, a spokesman admitted that the two machines' units have been "extremely close" in some weeks.
